Seven trees stand in front of Bernardo's home. In the Mexica way, that matters. Trees are our elders. They hold the ground together, they shelter what is small, and when a person travels to meet the ancestors, the trees keep watch over the road.
Seven is a sacred number among the Mexica. So when the time came to name this work, the name was already standing in the yard.
This is a place for energetic and ancestral healing — the kind our Abuelas and Abuelos kept alive through everything history threw at them. It moves at the speed of prayer. It asks nothing of you except that you come sincerely.

The heaviness that stays after a loss, a betrayal, a hard season — long after everyone else expects you to be “over it.” Susto, as our traditions call it: the fright that knocks part of you loose. A home or a body that no longer feels like yours. The ache of being cut off from your ancestors, your culture, your language — of carrying a lineage you were never taught to hold. The sense of being watched, drained, or weighed down by something you can't name. Or simply this: you have done the talking, the reading, the trying, and something in you still says there is more, and it is older.

Come to a session, in person in Seattle or by Zoom from anywhere. It begins with conversation, moves through the work itself, and ends with grounding, so you leave clear.

You leave with something to do — a practice, a prayer, a way of tending what opened. Healing lives in the days after the ceremony, not just inside it.
THE CURANDERO
Bernardo Ruiz

Bernardo is a Mexica man, a member of the Zemanahuac Tlamachtliloyan Confederated Tribes, and a curandero — a medicine man in the Mexica and Maya traditions, carrying teachings from the Q'ero nation of the Andes as well. What he offers was not invented. It was received, over many years, from named Abuelas and Abuelos who tested him, corrected him, and finally gave him permission to serve.
He works in Spanish and English, in person and at a distance, with individuals, families, and communities.
